DIY - Make Your Own Nail Varnish!

Hello Wonderful Followers,

So today I have something a little bit exciting for you, well what I think is exciting! I have for you my first DIY! I've really enjoyed doing this one too! This is a great idea to get cheap nail varnish, or is just a fun activity to do with your friends! So here it is my step my step guide to how to make your own nail varnish!

What you will need?

  • Bottles of clear nail varnish - I tried to get some really cheap one but the cheapest I could find were these Asda ones for £1.75 but I'm sure there is cheaper!
  • Old/Unwanted eye-shadows - Any eye-shadows would for this just in colours you would like for your nail varnish!
  • Knife - Sharp preferably!
  • Paper

Step-by-step method?

1) Loosen Eye-shadow - First you will need to use a knife to remove the eye shadow from its packet on to a piece of paper

2) Chop Eye-shadow - You will then need to use the knife to chop the eye shadow in to a finely chopped powder

3) Pour Eye-shadow in to nail varnish - To do this I folded the paper in half and used it as a funnel to pour half of the shadow into the nail varnish, try not to spill it like I did

4) Shake - You should then see the shadow all sticking together in the bottle, don't worry and just shake it as much as you can and it will spread out.

5) Repeat step 3 & 4 with the rest of the eye-shadow & use your lovely new nail varnish!

So there it is the 2 nail varnishes I made, and that is one coat of each colour on my nails! Well I really hope you really like this idea as much as I did!

Introducing My Boyfriend!

My Boyfriend and I thought we would do a "Girlfriend/Boyfriend Tag" like blog post! As I like to share all my favorite things and trips and best parts of my life with you! And seen as though I do mention Sam a lot I thought you might like to know more about us as a couple so here we go....

1) Where did you first meet?
Sam and I at our Yr11 Prom
I first met Sam while we were at school together. On October 21st 2011 I had to go to a school play which we were asked to write a review essay on for drama. In one of the last scenes a young lad came on stage with loads of make up on, and a suit and the a mop of black straightened hair. However when he was about to say his line he looked at me and our eyes met then he forgot his line. On the way out the theater I walk past him again and our eyes met but we still didn't talk. Later I used the excuse of needing help on my essay to Facebook him and yeah that's how we started talking. Then as I has to leave to go to DofE later that week I just gave him my number (smooth move I thought) so we could carry on talking, and we didn't stop.

2) What was the first thing you noticed about each other?
His big brown eyes, they were really sparkly in the stage lights.

3) How long have you been together?
     3 years, 3 months and 18 days

4) Favorite memory together?
Ohh this one is tricky, hmmm I have two. Either our year 11 prom as he looked so smart! Or 2 summers ago when we were at a festival called Greenbelt when it was so sunny and we just had a nice time hanging out and having fun listening to music!

5) Last date you went on?
We went out for dinner on Friday, I've been very busy with revision and not had a lot of time to go out, but we managed to squeeze in a dinner date between 6th form and DofE. It was very quick but it was nice to just eat and chat together.

Emily, Sam and I in the festival mud

  6) What was the funniest thing your      boyfriend/girlfriend has ever done?
Sam is always doing funny things as he is always so    clumsy and often falling over. I cant remember a specific  thing that he has done that's funny, but the funniest  thing to do is tickle him as he is very very ticklish! He  giggles like a little girl!

 7) What was the nicest thing they have ever done        for you?
This may sound very simple, but I was having a very    horrible day at 6th form earlier this year and I was very  upset. However Sam noticed and brought me a flask of  tea and dairy milk chocolate at lunch time and it was  just what I needed!

8) What is the thing you find most attractive about them?
Sam had lovely dark hair, and eyes! But whats most attractive is that he is such a good listener whether I'm in tears or I'm ranting at something that's wound me up he will just sit there and listen.

9) If you could change one thing about them?
I love Sam as he is and he is great! But if i would choose one thing I would like him to spend more time on his clothes, I know he's not bothered about them so much but he looks lovely when he dresses nicely!

10) Whats the thing your looking forward to most as a couple?
Hmm well I'm off to University next year and I know I'm leaving Sam behind as he has another year of collage to complete, but I am really looking forward to going away as it will be so fun when Sam comes to visit me! To meet all my new friends and just to be reunited with him! As Alex Day said, "Absence makes the heart grow fonder"

So there it is, I've not done this to brag at all I just though you all may be nosy like me and be interested in this kind of thing! If you wanna hear what Sam said about me you can find his blog post here: http://bit.ly/1nWHGWi

6 Ways I Cope With Exam Stress

I won't lie to you I'm not the calmest person when it come to exams and it is becoming more apparent as I'm getting closer to my 10 A2 exams. Yet I have been doing my best to keep my self stress free and calm. I can't promise this will always work as I know exams are very stressful but they may help a bit.

1) Having regular breaks in revision!
Non of us are robotic machines who can revise for hour and hours on end, so making sure you have little breaks throughout revision can mean that you will be more focused when you working as in the breaks you can get rid of all distractions. For example just take 10 mins every our to check you Facebook or watch a new YouTube video.

2) Test your self, prove you know it!
I find my self doubting that I know anything at all and actually this isn't true! To show this is do little test on my self, this can be little questions you find in a revision book or just recalling all you know about one topic. You will surprise your self!

3) Ask for help!
When you don't know something or are stuck on a particular question your may as I do build your self up in to a massive panic and decide to give up. However we all know that's not going to help if it comes up in the real exam, so go and ask your teacher! Its their job to get you prepared as much as you can for your exam and your grades reflect on them so they will often be happy to help!

4) Know your goals!
This one links to something I said in 3) that your grades reflect on your teacher. Although this means they will often do anything to help it also means sometimes they push you to get a higher grade than you think your able of or need to get. I have this a lot and I've had a lot of advice to just block them out! That's what I'm telling you to do to! just do your best do what you know you can and as long as you know you've done that you should be proud. Regardless of if you got what your teacher wanted to make them look better!

5) Eat and sleep well!
Sounds simple but is so important how can you expect to be able to produce your best work in exams or in revision if you have not fueled your body with good rest and healthy food. That's like expecting and Usain Bolt to run a personal best after no sleep and a packet of crisp, its not going to happen!

6) Do what you love!
I know in your world and my world right now exams are the only thing that matters, but in the big picture when you look back and see how sad and miserable you were its not going to be great! So don't be miserable! Go out and do things with your friends, go to any groups you attend, go out to the cinema and don't feel guilty you deserve a break!

I know that exam stress will always be there but its how you deal with it that is important so I hope this helps! Good luck with any exams you all have coming up!

Astronaut Ice Cream!

Hello to you all!

This week is going to be a little different! So last weekend I was given a gift by a youth leader who was running a night at the youth group I help out with about stars and space, as she did her degree in astro-physics!

So along with this she brought every one a pack of Astronaut food! I was given a pack of Neapolitan ice cream! This really interested me as I'm a big science geek myself, and as I'm doing dietetics at university food is also an interested in food. In fact my dream would be to design food for space so I was so happy when she gave me the ice cream!

This ice cream is freeze dried, which is the way astronauts have eaten their food aboard space missions since the early Mercury mission right up until NASA's Space missions today!

Now here is the geeky bit (sorry if you think this is boring)...

How is astronaut ice cream freeze-dried?

Freeze drying, or lyophilisation, removes water from the ice cream by lowering the air pressure to a point at which the ice shifts from a solid to a gas! The ice cream is placed in a vacuum chamber and frozen so the water crystallizes. The air pressure is the lowered creating a vacuum, then heat is applied vaporizing the ice. Finally a freezing coil traps the vaporized water!

When my twin sister and I tasted this ice cream we were rather susceptible to whether it would taste anything like ice cream! We were so surprised that it did! As soon as you leave it on your tongue it seems to liquids into a cream, with sweet flavorings. It is very clear when you eat it that it is supposed to be the strawberry, vanilla or chocolate ice cream yet is much sweeter and fake flavored. Yet I'm sure it makes a delightfully tasty treat in the space station!

I know this blog has been a bit random but I thought I would share my massive geeky side with you and that it was just interesting!
